Being a committee member has the lowest barrier of entry in guild activities after being an ISO. Everyone with even the slightest interest is encouraged to apply to committees to help organize events and leave their own mark on guild activities!
As a committee member, you can dedicate as much time as you have available. However, some committees require more active participation than others. In general, you're encouraged to apply to multiple committees if you’re interested, but be mindful of your time constraints. When applying to several committees, make sure you have both the time and interest to actively participate throughout the year.
For beginners, being part of two committees (depending on their level of activity) is usually a good balance. You can also apply to join other committees during the year if you have extra time and want more to do!
Corporate Relations Committee
The most important task of the corporate relations committee is to handle the communication between Tietokilta and its partner corporations. Working in the committee enables you to grow your network with leading companies in the field, as well as provides valuable experience in business cooperation. In addition to communication, the committee also performs other varying tasks, such as organizing excursions, selling sponsorship packages, preparing a recruitment magazine and maintaining the guilds recruitment platform and LinkedIn page, as well as building the guild’s largest recruitment event UraTiKAS. The TEK-ambassador also works in the Corporate Relations Committee. You can ask more about the committee and its tasks from the head of corporate relations!

chair Niko Kataja, @nikokataja
Study Committee
The main responsibility of the Study Committee is to represent the interests of students towards the University and to provide information on study matters to the students.
Under the leadership of the Head of Academic Affairs, the Study Committee influences the university’s decision-making process in cooperation with AYY and study committees from other guilds. In the Study Committee, you can participate as a halloped and also as a regular committee member. Hallopeds represent students at meetings of the university’s administrative organs. The Study Committee also organizes, with funding from the university, the Bachelor’s pulla servings for graduating students and a few events, such as the exchange sauna for those interested in exchange studies and the Master's programme evening showcasing the different Master's programmes in computer science.
In addition to these, the role of the Study Committee is to provide day-to-day lobbying and information dissemination to students, for example by solving problems that arise in courses and maintaining Tenttiarkisto (exam archive). The Committee is also responsible for conducting study surveys to get a broader picture of students’ views. New ideas are also welcome as the Study Committee is always looking for new ways to support the studies of the guild members!

Internal Committee
The internal committee, more commonly known as sisis, organizes sitsis, afterparties, and afterafterparties for the guild and takes care of the food and drink side of the events. The committee is led by the Host and Hostess, assisted by the members of the committee. In the committee, you get to plan and come up with ideas for the guild's events, be involved in the arrangements, see and get to know the events and teekkari culture from a completely different perspective.
In the committee, you can concretely do all kinds of things from cooking to decorating, cleaning and planning. No prior knowledge or experience is required, you learn by doing! However, we expect enthusiasm and a good attitude from the applicants!
Remember: the best parties are in the kitchen!

External Affairs Committee
Tietokilta's committee of external affairs offers the guild fun excursions inside Finland and abroad. The committee also takes care of the guild's external affairs with other guilds in different forms, such as by participating in Titeenit and having sitsis with them.
The style for doing this is free, come and join us with the planning and executing!

Alumni Committee
The task of the alumni committee is to maintain the connections of the guild and its members with the guild's alumni, to offer them opportunities for joint meetings and getting to know each other. The committee is open to both current students and alumni who have already graduated, so you can start networking with those who have already graduated by joining the committee. During 2025, our aim is to think about and organize suitable forms of activities. At the end of the year, the traditional Alumni mulled wine event will probably be held, but other ideas are also worth considering - such as sitsit, mentoring, alumni speed dating, etc. Let us only be limited by the imagination of the committee members and the budget availability.

Culture Committee
In the Cultural Committee, as the name suggests, you'll have the opportunity to create culture. Culture encompasses a wide range of different events and is not limited to "traditional" high culture.
In the committee, you'll get to brainstorm and implement ideas. Traditional event formats have included things like joint leaves to the Teekkarispeksi and RWBK's concert, various tasting evenings, movie nights, home brewing competitions, and the legendary UFO-themed sitsit.
Joining the committee doesn't require any special skills or prior experience—an interest in culture is enough! The head of culture and other committee members will support you in organizing events, so you can confidently share your event ideas.

Digital Services Committee
The Digital Services Committee is looking for enthusiastic guild members interested in the IT infrastructure and services of the Guild and their development. The committee is an excellent place to gain practical experience in software development and learn to use new languages and technologies. With the completion of the new website, the committee can turn its attention to new projects in the coming year. What kind of project would you be interested in working on?
All interested members are encouraged to apply, regardless of experience. The committee needs expertise in at least the following areas:
Software Development: Most projects involve some level of web development. Currently, our primary tools are TypeScript, Node.js, and React, but other technologies, such as Rust, are also in use. The goal is to prioritize widely adopted technologies to ensure that skilled contributors can be found in the future. We welcome both experienced developers and beginners—any help is appreciated!
Architecture Design, Cloud Services, and DevOps: Most of the Guild's IT infrastructure runs on cloud services, so cloud expertise is needed in the committee. Experience with containers (like Docker) and IaC tools (such as Terraform) is also important.
Design (UI/UX): The Digital Services Committee also needs a keen eye for design and the ability to create functional and visually appealing user interfaces. Figma is likely to be the primary tool used for interface design.

The committee also organizes Grandma-sitsit and a trip to a fluffy alpaca farm yearly. We also try new concepts and ideas when possible.
As a committee member you get to organize and plan amazing events and the amount of work largely depends on your eagerness and motivation, so no pressure! You also don’t need any special cooking or other skills - only interest and desire to help is enough :) Welcome!

Guild Magazine Committee, Rytmiryhmä
Rytmiryhmä (“Rhythm group”) is the editorial team of our guild magazine Alkorytmi, whose job naturally is to make Alkorytmi. The content in Alkorytmi can be pretty much anything and we want to encourage the editors to make just the type of content they want, as long as it’s possible to print in a magazine… and if not we’ll think of something. The goal of Alkorytmi is to represent all of its editorial team as well as the whole guild.
There are many different types of tasks at Rytmiryhmä. There’s article planning, writing, graphic design, editing, excursion-planning, event organising and a lot more. Everything is done in a very relaxed atmosphere and there’s no need to take pressure from anything. The amount of work is completely up to you and you can do all of the above or just join some meetings to plan the upcoming magazine. Everything can be done either alone or with others and you will always get help from the other editors.
No previous experience is required. You’ll learn everything by doing it and will always get help and instructions when needed. The goal is to first have fun making the magazine and maybe then it can cause pleasurable reading experiences in some readers.
Did passion for journalism or editing spark? Do you happen to possess some sense of humour? Well, despite that, you should apply for Rytmiryhmä!
If you’re interested in Rytmiryhmä you can ask me anything at tg: @jalppis or come speak to me at some event. You can find previous magazines at https://tietokilta.fi/en/alkorytmi/magazines if you want to see what the content has been like in the past years. Alkorytmi has usually consisted of mostly Finnish articles but it would be great having some more articles in English (or maybe even other languages)!

Guild Merchandise Committee
The Guild Merch Committee is responsible for ideating, designing and selling different types of guild products, such as clothing and overall patches. We also collect ideas and feedback from the guild members. The committee can design the products independently, but sometimes we can also involve other guild members through product design competitions.
Depending on your interests, you can get involved in brainstorming new ideas, graphical design (e.g. drawing overall patches) or selling the products. No previous experience is required, so if this seems interesting you should definitely apply!

Guild Room Committee
The Guild Room Committee is tasked with taking care of the guild room and any changes made to it. The committee ensures the guild room reflects the spirit of the guild and creates a space where all guild members feel comfortable. The committee also organizes activities such as major cleaning events. Additionally, the aim is to hold at least one meeting during the year to plan something new for the guild room.
I personally feel that the guild room is already functional, so my focus would be more on bringing it to life better. For example, we could create something fun and visually appealing for the guild room. However, this is just one idea—I’m not limiting what we can do. Instead, I want to hear from the members and prioritize their ideas over my own.
No specific skills or experience are required to join the committee. Anyone interested in shaping the future of the guild room is welcome to apply. All ideas for improving the guild room are very much welcome!

While you’ve surely heard the songmasters’ stories at various sitsit, their responsibilities also include many other things, from planning the song selection at sitsit to playing their part in managing the events, in close collaboration with other organizers.
In addition to songmastering on sitsis, the committee organizes various song culture related events, such as songwriting, practice sitsit for new songmasters, and the Kovalevy songbook sing-through. The songmasters are also present in events such as Lalasauna to teach songs to the new generations and inspire everyone to sing more.
So, if you’re interested in song culture, you should definitely apply to the songmaster committee! For new committee members, the only real criterion is genuine interest in song culture – you’ll learn everything else by doing!

Titeeni Committee
Titeenit, also known as the Battle of the Titens, is a yearly event between the Finnish Computer Science teekkaris. In early spring it gathers teekkaris from various cities to battle it out in various unique sports and to spend time with each other.
In 2026 Titeenit will be organized in Otaniemi. That means this is your unique opportunity to apply to the Titeeni Committee to make these the best Titeenit ever!
Especially in 2025, the Titeeni Committee will focus on things unique to Titeenit, such as planning the Titeeni sports and other early preparations. More workforce for the practical organization will be recruited closer to the event, such as in the 2026 committee applications.
Organizing Titeenit will overlap with the specialties of many other committees (e.g. internal committee, external affairs committee, corporate relations committee). There’s no need to apply to multiple committees to get to do the same work since we’ll definitely be cooperating with the others; so if you're interested in Titeenit primarily from a point of view that fits another committee, we recommend applying directly there.
*Please note that Titeenit has generally been an event mainly attracting Finnish students – some fields of committee work will require at least understanding Finnish.*

Equality Committee
The Equality Committee's task is to promote equality and inclusivity within Tietokilta and to serve as a support network for all guild members. The committee consists of general harassment contact persons, who provide low-threshold support and guidance after potential harassment situations, as well as equality coordinators, whose role is to develop the guild's equality activities.
In addition, a team of event harassment contact persons will be recruited later, from which harassment contact persons will be selected for various guild events. You can already express your interest in this form! There will be a great need for event harassment contact persons next year, so that more events will have harassment contact persons present!
Especially for harassment contact person roles, it is desirable to have completed AYY's harassment contact training. These trainings are organized a few times a year, the next one taking place in February, and they will be announced internally within the committee and likely also in Tietokilta's Telegram chat. It’s definitely worth joining the committee in advance if you’re planning to attend the training soon!
If you have any questions about the committee, be sure to get in touch with me via, e.g., Telegram @kulttuuri or email emilia.repo@tietokilta.fi!

In the Phuksi Committee, you can affect how the guild’s fuksi education and fuksi events look like. You get to take part in both the broad planning as well as in the final, more concrete decision-making. There is a wide range of things to do in the Phuksi Committee, so all kinds of expertise are welcome! Although there is a lot of work in the committee, it is still very rewarding!
