Participate in Robot Uprising: Micro Invaders 2024 – Team Registration Now Open!

We are excited to invite you to participate in the Robot Uprising: Micro Invaders 2024 competition!

Challenge:
In Micro Invaders, your task is to develop an AI (or bot) that autonomously controls two 3D printed robots on the game field. The objective is for these robots to interact with their environment and execute game strategies without human intervention. It’s a great way to put your coding and robotic skills to the test in a fun physical challenge.

Timeline and Support:
Your team will have three months time over the summer to build your solutions at a relaxed pace. Our organizing team will support you through regular checkpoints, providing guidance to help you refine your robots and AI systems. This schedule is designed to accommodate learning and experimentation, making it ideal for those looking to enhance their capabilities in robotics, AI, computer vision, and more. Get started and join our community at https://robotuprising.fi/discord.

Registration Details:
Who: Teams of 2 to 5 people, everyone registers individually.
When: Initial application period closes Sunday May 26th. It may be possible to join afterwards depending on team count so far.
Where: Visit our event page for more information and fill the Registration Form.

We encourage anyone interested in technology and robotics to register. This is a perfect opportunity to challenge yourself, learn valuable skills, and collaborate with peers in a supportive environment. For a look at past competitions and what to expect, check out a replay of the 2020 finals on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8YMrJo9J9I&t=587s).

We hope to see your team at the competition!

Hi student!

Have you ever had trouble with study motivation or are you looking for ways to manage and keep track of your studies? By participating in this study, you help in developing a mobile application aimed at increasing study motivation, especially for independent study. I ask you to participate regardless of your background and the state of your studies. All that is needed is that you study in higher education.

This study will be conducted as a part of my master’s thesis in the Information Processing Science degree program at the University of Oulu, and you can participate entirely remotely. Participation is completely voluntary and can be withdrawn at any point without having to tell why. All responses are kept confidential and anonymous so that no one can be identified from the responses. The data is used solely for the master’s thesis and scientific publications.

The survey is completely in English. It includes testing an early version of a gamified and persuasive application, as well as statements, to which you answer on a scale of 1-5 (1 = strongly disagree, 5 = strongly agree). In addition, you will respond to background questions and one voluntary open question. There are no right or wrong answers, instead, it is important that you answer according to your own view. Participation is best done on the computer, but it is also possible on the phone. Responding only takes about 15 minutes of your time, but the results are pivotal for this study.

You can fill out the survey here: https://forms.gle/VaZThCgoy93i6AWr7t
Feel free to distribute the survey to other higher education students. The survey closes today at 23:59 (Finnish time), so please submit it soon.

A huge thank you and have a great day!

Kind regards,
Renata Moilanen
