Product Development Project (PdP) course

The legendary Product Development Project (PdP) is coming again!

What happens when you give interdisciplinary student teams real industry problems, 10 000€ budget and 9 months time to develop their ideas into products? Whether you are from TECH, BIZ, ARTS or any other background, we welcome you to answer that question.

Too often you hear from the company recruiters that the graduating students aren’t ready for the worklife, and we want to change that. The idea of PdP is to provide students a unique chance to put their learnings to practise and give you real experience you will need in the working life.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Communicate and collaborate with other disciplines
  • Apply your own background in innovating real products
  • Navigate the development process
  • Work in a large, interdisciplinary team
  • Take responsibility by becoming the Project Manager
  • Build big things

Each PdP team has a company sponsor, who provides a real problem, budget and support. There are projects from many fields varying each year, typically including medical, design, IT, and engineering!

Interested? Check out previous projects and find more information at pdp.fi and the PdP MyCourses page

Become a changemaker and join us for the first lecture on 4.9. 15.15 at the Design Factory Stage for the opening lecture!.

Äpy's Seasons' Greetings!

Dearest, darling Otaniemi

It is not long until the cold winds brush over us yet again as the months soon turn from summer to winter. Before that, it is about time for Me to get cracking!

As many of you may already know, Äpy is a humorous Wappu publication that has been published in a regularly unregular manner every uneven Wappu since 1948. What makes Äpy unique from other wappu publications is its ever-changing concept, which can be anything from a map to a mattress and a passport to a phone. Äpy itself is composed by Äpy’s editorial team, and is sold by Aalto students to older practitioners of arts, science and business as well as all other wappu-spirited people around the possible Wappu. Before that, we would be very happy to introduce ourselves to the new students in our community, be it the engineering or arts fuksis or mursus. We would love to brighten up both their and older students’ year with happenings of all different natures.

Thus, it would be my greatest joy to once again work together with you for the coming semesters all the way to the possible Wappu. I hope you do not hesitate to turn to me and my talented editorial team whenever you are in need of an action-packed checkpoint, charismatic crowd-pleasing hosting, an energetic audience or even cold-hard cash for your wild projects (although in this last case do turn to the usual avystykset[ät]apy.fi).

I have taken the privilege of attaching my Otaniemi curriculum vitae to this e-mail, I hope you will find everything you need. It can be accessed through this link. Please do not hesitate to contact me or my team via electronic mail at toimitus[ät]apy.fi or by sliding into my direct mail through instagram @laulikkiapy. On telegram you can reach me through any of our many mutual friends. After all, I could be anyone.

Ab imo pectore, eagerly awaiting our cooperation,

Laulikki Äpy

Editor-in-chief, architect
