Kotimaan Pitkä 2025

Pack your bags – the legendary Kotimaan Pitkä excursion is back for the first time since Covid!

What is Kotimaan Pitkä?
Kotimaan Pitkä is a five-day excursion across Finland along a mystery route X – leaving participants guessing the destinations until the very end! The journey takes place by bus, departing on Thursday morning, September 10th, from outside the Undergraduate Centre in Otaniemi (Otakaari 2). Return is on Sunday evening, September 14th, to the same spot. The trip program will unfold piece by piece during the adventure. Expect group activities with fellow students, fascinating company visits, casual exploring of destinations, and a healthy dose of culture to spice up the bus rides.

What is an excursion?
Excursions are trips organized by the Guild to destinations chosen by its members. Programs may include visits to local student organizations or companies, discovering local culture, and of course plenty of fun in true teekkari spirit.

The trip costs no more than €140. Each additional participant lowers the total cost, so bring a friend along!

Registration opens on the guild website on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at 16:00.

A quota of 10 places is reserved for freshmen. The trip will be organized if at least 30 participants register.

Product Development Project course

The legendary Product Development Project is coming again!

“PdP is the most rewarding and ridiculous experience in the university”

Product Development Project (PdP) is a 9-month long interdisciplinary project course (10-15 ECTS), where each team gets a company sponsor, access to Design Factory facilities and a 10 000€ budget to turn their ideas into reality. Sponsors joining this year include Genelec, Lappset, Carbo Culture, City of Espoo, HUS, Saab, Wärtsilä, Lumo Analytics, Vaisala, Sako, Aurora Propulsion Technologies and many others.

We won’t shove your head full of theory – instead we give you a chance to put it into practice and build something tangible, that may end up becoming an actual product. Each year, patents have been filed and jobs have been found. Fun is a mandatory part of the course, and we have some secret traditions…

The course will culminate with the PdP Gala in May, where each team gets to reveal their prototypes to the world and 600-1000 visitors. You can check out this year’s Gala and projects here: https://pdp.fi/gala25/

We welcome Master’s students from any field (TECH, ARTS, BIZ) as well as 3rd year ARTS Bachelor’s students.

Sign up here: https://sisu.aalto.fi/student/courseunit/aalto-CU-1150972529-20240801/brochure and join the first lecture on September 3rd at Aalto Design Factory.

Event Assistants for Unite! Dialogue 6–9 October

The Dialogue is a working conference held twice a year by the Unite! alliance. During the Dialogue, working groups meet to plan projects and initiatives to be carried out.

We are looking for students to assist with the event arrangements.
