Cultural movie night

Unfortunately all of the movies are in Finnish, and they don't have dubs or subtitles in English.

On Tuesday of the annual ball week, we’re hosting a movie night that offers a unique opportunity to dive into the intriguing past of teekkari culture and our guild, as well as reflect on where we stand today. The evening promises a wealth of familiar, beloved, and even mythical video clips, each revealing new stories from Otaniemi and the world of teekkari life.

The program includes, among other things, the enchanting performances from fuksispeksi, where first-year students have dazzled audiences with timely acts. Over the years, various hallitusvideot (student board videos) have also been produced, and they’re now taking center stage. These videos can reveal surprising sides of guild activities. And of course, we can’t forget the legendary Raimo Illaskivi, whose cult-status films have long captivated eager fans.

If you have an unforgettable video or other gem you’d like to see on the big screen, don’t hesitate to let us know—we’re more than happy to accept new ideas! The event will take place at Pelimanni, starting at 5:00 pm, and will offer a laid-back atmosphere, some light snacks, and mind-blowing movies.

Pelimanni has around 20 seats, so we recommend signing up in advance to secure your own comfortable spot. However, signing up is not mandatory, and more seats can surely be arranged through creative solutions if the situation calls for it.

The sign-up is open here!

Kovalevy singthrough

Did you have time to look through your new Kovalevy yet? Doesn't matter if no, as you'll have a chance to at the Kovalevy singthrough. Join us at Gorsu on Thursday of the annual ball week to sing through the entirety of the new edition of Kovalevy, enjoy the traditional cucumber punch and go to a hot sauna with your friends. You can also buy a new edition of Kovalevy at the event.

We will also be joined by our friends from Data Guild, who also use Kovalevy as their songbook!

Sign-up is not mandatory nor binding, but please do sign up so we can estimate the amount of punch needed!

The Polytech Choir (PK) is celebrating its 125th anniversary and will open its jubilee year at Ritarihuone on March 13, 2025, with a performance of its legendary repertoire in many forms. Laskiaisrieha

Laskiaisrieha and the world's craziest academic downhill race are here again!

On Shrove Tuesday, it's time to gather at Ullanlinnanmäki to celebrate the traditional Laskiaisrieha sledding festival. Throughout the lively afternoon, the hill fills with sleds, toboggans, sliders, and the students steering.

In addition to sledding, there will be music, competitions, and other entertainment. The day is crowned by the legendary ABB’s Academic Downhill Race, where teams compete with increasingly spectacular structures for the championship in academic downhill racing. In recent years, Ullanlinnanmäki's historic descent stadium has seen saunas, UFOs, dinner tables, and even descents from bottom to top!

Gather your team around the drawing board and join the race! Rules can be found at www.laskiaisrieha.fi, and you can sign up here. Registration ends 25.2.!

After an amazing afternoon of sledding, the party continues with Laskiaisappro pub crawl. Slalom through downtown Helsinki touring bars all the way to the AYY's Gravitaatio!
